The Bananas from Taiwan are widely welcomed by consumers all over the world, and have been exported to Japan for several decades. The picture postcards printed during the Japanese occupation (1895-1945) often feature beautiful ladies and bananas, banana orchards, and trains or steamboats transporting bananas, all showing how prosperous the industry was. In the 1960s, the amount of export per year was as high as 26 million cases. This not only brought remarkable income for Taiwan, but also developed talented people capable of the forthcoming international trades. 蕉財進寶香蕉是台灣目前最大宗之外銷新鮮農產品,在亞熱帶氣候條件孕育下,台蕉香甜可口、風味獨特,廣被國內外消費者喜愛,數十年來外銷日本一直持續不斷。日本統治台灣時代(1895-1945) 的風景明信片內容,不乏香蕉和美女、香蕉園、香蕉集貨場、火車與輪船轉運香蕉的鏡頭,可見當時盛況。1960年代栽培面積達四萬多公頃,年外銷曾創下二千六百萬箱之最高紀錄,不但直接為台灣賺取可觀的財富,還間接孕育了台灣日後進行國際貿易的種籽人才。台語「蕉」「招」同音,台灣香蕉還真的是「招財進寶」的吉祥物呢。 |
